HANOI, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Lao National Assembly President Thongsing Thammavong said in Vientiane on Wednesday that Lao is ready to strengthen parliamentary exchanges with China, according to a press release of the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
Thongsing made the remarks when meeting with a delegation of China's National People's Congress (NPC) headed by Yan Junqi, vice chairwoman of the NPC Standing Committee.
Thongsing said that bilateral relations have developed in a steady way in recent years. The two countries have seen deepened cooperation in all fields.
Thongsing said the parliamentary exchanges constitute an important part of the bilateral relations. Lao National Assembly would like to maintain frequent high-level exchanges with Chinese NPC and push forward bilateral cooperation to a new stage.
For her part, Yan said bilateral cooperation has seen fruitful outcomes in recent years, bringing benefits to the Chinese and Lao people.
Yan said Chinese NPC would like to expand exchanges and interaction with Lao counterparts at all levels, contributing to the development of bilateral comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.
Yan arrived in Laos on Wednesday for a goodwill visit.
